Dr Denesh C Patel is a consultant dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon who has been in private practice since 1999, based at the Auckland Skin and Cancer Foundation. He offers vast experience in the diagnosis and management of both medical and surgical dermatology, in all ages, recognising the effects that skin disease can have on a person.

His particular interests include:

General dermatology
Paediatric dermatology (skin conditions in children)
Disorders of pigmentation
Skin diseases of ethnic skin
Sun sensitivity disorders
Skin cancers/melanoma
Skin surgery (on site theatre), including Mohs micrographic surgery
Erbium-YAG laser
Access to Copper bromide laser
Patch testing for contact dermatitis
Phototherapy

Denesh graduated from the University of Otago Medical School in 1989. The foundations of his medical skills were then developed working in a variety of medical positions in New Zealand as a junior doctor. He recognised dermatology as a branch of medicine where he could use all these skills to help patients with skin disease. He commenced dermatology training in Auckland before taking a position at the esteemed St John’s Institute of Dermatology, St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1998.

Denesh is a vocationally registered dermatologist in New Zealand and a fellow of the New Zealand Dermatological Society. Other memberships include: American Society of Mohs Surgery, Australasian Dermatopathology Society and the Auckland Indian Medical Association.

He is also a visiting consultant at Greenlane Clinical Centre. There, in addition to his clinical duties, he enjoys his role as a clinical teacher. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland Medical School and currently a member of the Dermatology Specialist Advisory Committee for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
